Welcome to The Hockey House, a hockey program founded by professional hockey player Ben Marshall and wife, Madison Marshall. Our mission is to celebrate the iconic legacy of hockey in Minnesota while fostering the next generation of players, both on and off the ice.
As Minnesotans, hockey is in our blood. With more outdoor rinks per capita than any other state, it’s no surprise that this is the state where hockey dreams are born. The sport continues to shape and connect communities, providing an undeniable sense of pride and unity.
At The Hockey House, we want to honor the rich Minnesota hockey history while providing a space for players to grow, learn, and thrive. Our program is inspired by the nostalgia of Minnesota’s hockey scene—those crisp winter days spent outdoors on frozen ponds, the warmth of community support during high school rivalries, and the thrill of representing our state in national tournaments. We aim to capture the spirit of the Minnesota hockey tradition and inspire athletes to reach their fullest potential.
For Ben, hockey has been a lifelong passion that started on a backyard rink in Mahtomedi. He went on to play for the University of Minnesota, where he honed his skills and cemented his place in the legacy of Gopher hockey. Today, Ben continues as a professional player in the DEL Hockey League and has built a resume around the world.
Join us at The Hockey House—where the past, present, and future of Minnesota hockey collide, and where every player can feel the thrill of carrying forward the state’s legendary legacy.
At The Hockey House we’re devoted to providing high-end hockey training right here on the east side of the Twin Cities. Our goal is to create a space where athletes can train like pros and elevate their game to the next level, all while staying close to home.
Ben Marshall was raised in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, where he began his hockey journey with Mahtomedi High School. Ben’s talent on the ice was recognized when he was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL Draft. He then played for the Omaha Lancers in the USHL before committing to the University of Minnesota from 2011 to 2015. During his college career, the Golden Gophers achieved significant success, including NCAA tournament appearances and conference championships. After college, Ben embarked on a professional career that began in the ECHL with the Indy Fuel, where he was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team. He then moved on to the AHL, playing for the Providence Bruins. Seeking new challenges, Ben took his career to Europe, playing in multiple leagues, including the KHL with Dinamo Riga and the DEL with ERC Ingolstadt and Schwenningen Wild Wings. His skating has been particularly praised during his time in the DEL.
Madison is a marketing consultant and strategist who’s been by Ben’s side throughout his hockey career, traveling all over the world for games. A lifelong hockey fan, she’s picked up on all the ins and outs of the game—she can even spot when a play is "off side!" With her expertise in marketing, Madison is helping bring The Hockey House’s vision to life, making sure the program resonates with local families and connects with the community. She’s passionate about making this program exciting and fun for everyone involved.
Together, we have created program that’s all about high-quality training, strong community ties, and helping every player reach their full potential.

The Hockey House program is designed to provide players with a unique, high-quality development experience in a small group setting. By limiting group sizes, we focus on players receiving personalized attention and tailored feedback, which accelerates their progress and helps them master key skills.
Small group training is essential in hockey because it allows for focused instruction and more repetitions, leading to quicker improvement. Our one-hour sessions, led by Ben Marshall, are a great option for families looking for a low-commitment summer program. With just eight sessions over four weeks, players will benefit from intensive training packed with development in an efficient time frame.
Throughout the program, players will work on a combination of skating skills, edge work, and puck mechanics—all designed to elevate their game. Skating is at the heart of our program, as it is the foundation of all hockey movement. Our skating-focused approach is the key to developing powerful, efficient players. As professional hockey continues to evolve, skating remains the most critical skill for success, and this program will ensure that players are prepared for the future of the sport.
